RED - RED-Drive

The RED-Drive 640 gb storage device is the workhorse of RED ONE digital media choices. RED-Drive is an outboard media system that can be mounted in the RED-Rail Cradle on the camera body, or a rail system. It interfaces with the camera via the Drive Connector LEMO.

The 640gb RED-Drive is made up of two 2.5" 320 gb laptop hard drives arranged in a hardware-based RAID. The drives are in a RAID for data transfer speeds and  cannot be reconfigured to record in a RAID mirrored formatting. The RED-Drive is capable of recording approximately two to three hours of 4K REDCODE RAW footage. No matter how you look at it, storing two to three hours of 4K REDCODE RAW footage on a drive smaller than an ASC manual is an amazing technical achievement.
